Salary:       Per diem rates subject to the following credentials:                    

  • Per Diem Passed Para Pro/or 48 college credits $130

    • Per Diem College Degree $150

    • Per Diem Certified/Retired $170

                        

Please note:

All new employees of the North Adams Public Schools you are required to submit to a national criminal background check by fingerprint. Unlike state CORI checks that have no associated fee, individuals will have to pay a fee to comply with this requirement.  The fee currently is $55 for school employees licensed under Section 38G (DESE-licensed individuals employed as educators and specialists, and any other employee who holds DESE licensure, regardless of her/his position) and $35 for all others.  Substitutes are school employees under the new law and therefore must submit their fingerprints for state and national checks.  If substitute teachers hold educator licenses issued under MGL c. 71 ยง 38R, they will pay the $55 fee; otherwise they will pay the $35.00 fee.

Job description:

Job Goal:         To implement lesson plans, foster a supportive learning environment, collaborate with colleagues, and fulfill all professional responsibilities. 

Supervision:    Reports to the Building Principal

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Promotes the learning and growth of all students by implementing high quality and coherent instruction, assigning learning tasks, and providing assessments as indicated by the classroom teacher.

  2. Provides whole group, small group, and individual support for learning.

  3. Maintain a positive classroom and school environment for learning.

  4. Keeps appropriate records (including attendance reporting) and provides classroom teacher a brief report of student progress during the assigned lesson.

  5. Promotes the learning and growth of all students through instructional practices that establish high expectations, create a safe and effective classroom environment, and demonstrate cultural proficiency.

  6. Promotes the learning and growth of all students through effective collaboration with classroom teachers, support staff, and school leaders.

  7. Promotes the learning and growth of all students through ethical, culturally proficient, skilled, and collaborative practice.

  8. Uses technology to fulfill professional responsibilities, including but not limited to the use of online learning platforms, student management systems, email, collaborative documents, spreadsheets, and other instructional tools.

  9. Follows all school and classroom guidance regarding the response to behavioral health challenges and supporting students in need.

  10. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Building Principal.

 

 Physical Requirements:           The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary.  Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects.  The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally.  There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.

 

Environmental Conditions:     The occupant is required to work indoors.  The regular chemical solvents are toners and cleaning fluids.  The occupant may also come into contact with ink, chalk, and other materials associated with the teaching process.
