NORTH ADAMS SCHOOL COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES FINAL SUPERINTENDENT CANDIDATE
NORTH ADAMS, MA – The North Adams School Committee is pleased to announce that Dr. Timothy Callahan has been selected as the final candidate for the position of Superintendent of Schools. After an extensive national search and careful consideration of numerous qualified candidates, the Superintendent Search Committee has put forth Dr. Callahan as the leading choice to guide the North Adams Public Schools into the future.
Dr. Callahan has dedicated the past 27 years to North Adams Public Schools, during which time he has held multiple positions. His roles at Drury High School included 9–12 English Language Arts Teacher, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Assistant Principal, and Principal. He also served as the Director of Technology for the district and, most recently, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. Dr. Callahan received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Hamilton College, a Master of Education from Cambridge College, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Russell Sage College. His core values include equity, creativity, and collaboration, and he believes in setting high expectations for students while providing them with high levels of support.
To further assess his qualifications and vision for the district, the School Committee will conduct a public meeting on Thursday, March 20th, in the City Council Chambers at 6 PM. During this session, Dr. Callahan will be interviewed by the committee members as part of the final evaluation process. The meeting will be broadcast on NBCTC and will also be accessible via Zoom video conference. A Zoom link will be posted as part of the public meeting announcement.
Community engagement is a valued component of the selection process. While the committee will not hold a “hearing of visitors” during this meeting, students, faculty, staff, families, and community members are encouraged to submit their questions ahead of time via a Google Form at the following link: https://forms.gle/8dDzX6Az8JYSf5Kf7. Questions must be submitted by 5 PM on Monday, March 17th to be included for consideration.
The North Adams School Committee appreciates the community's participation and looks forward to their engagement as part of a thorough and transparent selection process.
