DR. BARBARA MALKAS HONORED WITH BOBBIE D’ALESSANDRO LEADERSHIP AWARD BY MASSACHUSETTS ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENTS
The Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (MASS) has recognized Dr. Barbara Malkas, Superintendent of North Adams Public Schools, with the prestigious Bobbie D'Alessandro Leadership Award at the Women in Education Leadership Network conference on March 18, 2025.
Named in honor of Bobbie D’Alessandro, a trailblazer in educational leadership, this award is given to a superintendent who demonstrates exceptional leadership, mentorship, and commitment to fostering equity and excellence in education. Dr. Malkas was selected for her unwavering dedication to student success, her transformative leadership in North Adams and across the state, and her advocacy for inclusive and innovative educational practices.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award and to be recognized among so many outstanding women leaders in education,” said Dr. Malkas. “This award is a testament to the hard work of our entire school community, as we strive every day to create meaningful opportunities for our students.”
Since becoming Superintendent of North Adams Public Schools, Dr. Malkas has been a driving force behind initiatives that improve student achievement, strengthen community partnerships, and promote equity in education. Her leadership has positioned North Adams as a model for student-centered learning and district-wide collaboration.
