College and Your Mental Health
A webinar panel presentation for students and parents/caregivers about balancing the transition to college life while living with a mental health condition. The agenda and registration info is available here: http://namicentralmiddlesex.org/.../college-and-your....
The annual College and Your Mental Health program prepares students and parents for transition and success in a college environment for those living with a mental health condition. The panel includes a student currently balancing college life and mental health challenges and administrators from Middlesex Community College, UMass Lowell, and Boston University.
Students, parents/caregivers, and high school counselors are invited to join our webinar—where your identity is private—on Monday, March 18th, 7:00–8:30 pm.
Topics include:
Mental health-friendly signs to look for when applying to colleges
Disclosing a diagnosis
Life skills to master before the 1st term
Family communication plans
Privacy laws surrounding adult students
Communicating with the support services office
Types of support on campus
Organizing telehealth appointments

Massachusetts State SNAP Supplement
The Department of Transitional Assistance is pleased to announce the launch of the new State SNAP Supplement effective February 14th, 2024. This supplement will help lawfully-present immigrants who are living in Massachusetts buy food. People who do not qualify for federal SNAP benefits may qualify for this.
Starting February 14, many individuals and families will begin receiving the State SNAP Supplement.
If a person applied for SNAP before December 4 and was denied, they should reapply.
If a person applied for SNAP after December 4, they do not need to reapply, even if they were denied.
If a person newly applies, DTA will contact them to process their application
The department has also set up a web page with FAQ and helpful information: mass.gov/statesnap

Saturday March 2nd from 10am to 12pm, CHP Family Services and Community Access to the Arts (CATA) are holding an Art and Tea Party event for children ages 2-10 with special needs and their families. The event is free. Registration details are on the flyer (drop ins are OK too!) This event will be held at CATA, 420 Stockbridge Rd, Great Barrington, MA.
