During lunch period today at Drury High School a student deployed pepper spray in the library.
The student who sprayed the substance was identified and removed from the building. The police are currently investigating the incident and the school will pursue criminal charges.
Students and staff impacted by the pepper spray have received medical attention.
The upper level of Drury was temporarily evacuated to provide space for the cleaning crew to air out the library and begin cleaning the carpet. The Drury library will remain closed for today.
The remainder of the school building is unaffected by the spray and classes will resume as normal. School adjustment counselors are on site should any student need additional support.
