Community Increase in Youth Diagnosed with Walking Pneumonia and Pertussis
“Walking Pneumonia” is caused by the bacterium mycoplasma pneumoniae. Pertussis is also known as “Whooping cough.” Mycoplasma and Pertussis are spread through contact with droplets from the nose and throat of infected people, especially when they cough and sneeze. Please make an appointment with your child's health care provider if they are experiencing breathing difficulties, chest pain, a high fever, persistent or worsening cough, lightheadedness or dizziness, wheezing, or worsening symptoms of a cold.

Covering coughs and sneezes and keeping hands clean can help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses.
For all respiratory infections (Covid, Flu, RSV) students must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications (Tylenol/Motrin) and feeling better prior to returning to school.
Reminder:
Please remind your student to wear appropriate footwear on P.E. day. Students should avoid wearing Crocs, boots, sandals, and shoes with raised heels. Wearing the proper footwear can help prevent injuries. Thank you!
