Dear Families,
At North Adams Public Schools, we use Google Workspace for Education. Google Workspace for Education is a set of education productivity tools from Google including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Classroom, and more used by tens of millions of students and teachers around the world. Students currently use their Google Workspace for Education accounts to complete assignments, communicate with their teachers, sign into their Chromebooks, and learn 21st-century digital citizenship skills.
Historically, Google has included Google Earth as part of their Workspace for Education suite. Our educators use Google Earth in their classrooms as an educational tool when engaging students. Recently there has been a change in service by Google, removing Google Earth from the Google Workspace for Education suite.
In order to maintain services to teachers and students, we have given access to Google Earth to all teachers and students. If you do not give permission for your child to have access to Google Earth, please email familysupports@napsk12.org.
Opting out of Google Earth for your student may impact the educational experience. For example, students who cannot use Google Earth may need to use other software to complete assignments or collaborate with peers.
If you have additional questions or concerns, feel free to email familysupports@napsk12.org.
Thank you for your attention to this matter,
Barbara Malkas, Ed.D
Superintendent of North Adams Public Schools
